Monica {Senior}

Monica didn't know what she was in for when we met each other for her senior pictures.  We had so much fun stomping around down town and then I got the bright idea to go over to the tall grass by Kemper Arena and take some pictures there.  We finished and two people approched me and said they saw us taking pictures and that if we wanted to stick around we could because they were getting ready to burn all the grass and it is quite a spectacle.  I asked if I could put her near it and they said they didn't care and I could do whatever I wanted.  Cool.  Well let's say it took all of about two minutes and it was done.  Monica was such a trooper because it was HOT.  I mean, so hot I had to keep looking away because it was hurting my face.  I can't even imagine what her back felt like being closer to it than I.  I wish we had more time to play with the fire, but such is life.  She rocked it.

FUN Times!!

If anybody is interested in playing some volleyball this weekend, Paul Mitchell is having their annual volleyball tournament.  Last year this baller actually played in the championship but unfortunately lost to some team that played quite well, very intoxicated.  It is a lot of fun and it all goes to a good cause!

Dani {Senior}

I am beginning to think that along with the crazy weather we have been experiencing lately that we also somehow are now going to be know as Kansas City, the windy city.  Wind, wind, wind.  I am so tired of wind!!  I just want it to be waaarrrmmm (that is my way of expressing me crying and throwing a fit).  This is just not ideal conditions to be shooting senior girls!

This is the month of the year in which "senior frenzy" has begun.  So much to do in so little time!!  I have a lot of blogging to do so here it begins!!

This is Dani.  I once knew her when she was just a little one when Michael and I lived in good ole Tonganoxie.  It is always so fun to see people that you haven't seen in ten years and then look at them and say "WOW"!  We had a lot of fun stomping around her property and battling the wind.  And who doesn't love to end with a monster truck!!

Megan {Bellies}

Oh, blog I have so neglected you and I apologize.  I really really have thought of you, but I discovered a new friend, Facebook and I have been horrible to you.  I promise to give equal time from now on.

Things are starting to look hectic again.  It is April frenzy when all hell breaks loose and seniors have put off taking their pictures and need them by May!!  It is always so much fun!  So look for some great seniors to be blogged about!!

First up is Megan.  She is due any day now and since she is my sister-in-law I have rights to post a few pictures of her and her beautiful bellie with baby McKinnon snug as a bug in a rug.  So here is a few without embarrassing her too much!

Help this cause!!

I received an email today regarding a very good friend of my daughter, Haley.  I have know Hillary for a very long time now, and I can attest that she is such a sweet young lady who has dealt with this disease since the 8th grade.  It is a very good cause and any donation will help.

Hillary Feden's Fundraising Page
Running to Cure the Runs One Mile at a Time!

First, let me start by saying thank you for visiting my fundraising page, and helping to provide support as I embark on this fantastic journey!

I am very excited to have teamed up Team Challenge which will help train me to run (Yes, I said RUN!) the Napa to Sonoma Half Marathon in Napa Valley, California on July 19, 2009! They will be providing everything I need including professional coaching, a training program, financial support and teammates to help me cross the finish line. In return, I will raise funds for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA), which hopefully will lead to improved treatment and a most importantly, a CURE! I’m taking the steps needed to help find a cure (13.1 miles worth of steps to be exact!) and I’m going to need the help of my wonderful friends and family!

Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis are painful, unpredictable diseases that attack the digestive system. Collectively, they are known as inflammatory bowel diseases, and are chronic disorders. Upwards of 1.4 American adults and children suffer from these incurable diseases, affecting mainly those ages 15 to 35. Symptoms can include frequent diarrhea, rectal bleeding, reduced appetite and or weight loss, ulcers, and pain in the abdomen. Other problems can arise outside of the digestive tract, such as fever, fatigue, arthritis, skin disorders, eye inflammation, and inflammation of the liver or bile ducts. These diseases are very consuming, miserable, embarrassing, and any other negative or nasty word you can think of. Worst of all, they can become life threatening.

I was inspired to join this great cause because as you may or may not know, I was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease when I was in 8th grade. Since being diagnosed, I’ve gone through countless medications, doctor’s visits, procedures and surgeries (all while living daily with the unpleasant symptoms!). While I have had my fair share of ups and downs, I consider myself very lucky. For the most part, I’ve been able to lead a normal and healthy life. I know my disease could be worse and has the potential to become worse in the future. Every day is different and I never know how I’m going to feel, but I’m a true believer in that everything happens for a reason! I’ve vowed to never let this disease get the best of me and instead have decided to embrace it as a part of life! On top of myself having Crohn’s, recently my best friend and the person I aspire to be was diagnosed with IBD, my older sister Heather.

So, I promise to do all the running if YOU can help me reach my goal of $3,800 for the CCFA! For every dollar donated, 80 cents goes directly to research and patient support. While I know that times are tough (after all I am a broke college student!!) every dollar truly counts! **Keep in mind that all donations made are 100% TAX-DEDUCTIBLE** Your contribution can be made on this page or via check or cash to me. It’s my goal to get all of my funds raised ASAP so I can focus on my training! Please feel free to spread the word about Crohn’s and Colitis and share my page and story with your friends and family; and of course, anyone who wants to come watch and cheer me on as I sweat and battle through the 13.1 miles in Napa is welcome! (If not for me, at least come for the wine!) Again, with my deepest sincerity, thank you!

May 2009 continue to Bless you like it has me! :-)

-Hillary Feden

** Keep checking in for updates on my training and most importantly, upcoming fundraisers!**

The Bachelor {Scandals}

So a few days have passed since I wanted to post something about this season of The Bachelor.  I decided my anger at Jason MesDICK...oops, did I just type that?!!  I tend to go in phases with watching the show, but for some reason, half way through this season, I got hooked.  I thought this guy was so sweet and caring and I thought the dynamics of these girls was great.  The thing is that I actually liked Mellissa and Molly and was rooting for them both, but knew that in the editing room with TV we only see what they want us to see.  I won't go into detail about what the outcome was because I am sure most people know.  I do want to say that I have been reserving my blog because I just wanted to see how it played out and hope that there was some backstage stuff that went on that we didn't know about and it really wasn't as bad and sooooo uncompassionate as it seemed.

Then I watched Ellen yesterday and Mellissa was on her show and everything I was judging Mr. MesDICK (oops) for was pretty much true.  I get that his feelings changed.  I understand that.  My rational side understands fully, what his emotions were and understand how his decision wasn't the right one.  My anger comes from the fact that he really did not give Mellissa the consideration of letting her know beforehand that he was going to go on T.V. and a commercial break later start making out with Molly on the couch.  It was all manipulated  by the producers and I am very disapointed.  I am very disappointed that he sold his soul to the devil for ratings or whatever he got out of this and wasn't a decent human being and at least gave her a heads up before she walked out on that stage and was humiliated.  Yes, she did sign up for a stupid reality show, but no, I am sure she did not sign up for humiliation, not under her control,  that 17 million people watched.  And I am not even going to get started on Molly.  I hope they truly are happy together and it was worth acting like complete boobs.

Well that is Nikki's soap box for this afternoon.

25 Things

I have not joined the facebook community yet, nor do I have time right now.  I have a hard enough time just blogging!  And for fear of getting absolutely nothing done in my life, I will resist the temptation and have some degree of willpower!  I have though received a couple of requests to just put my 25 things on my blog, so I sat down and compiled a list.  Some you may know and some probably not, but here goes --

1.  I found my soulmate at 22.

2.  I love being a mom.

3.  My face turns really red when people hug me.  I don't know why, but it happens.

4.  Once upon meeting random strangers on the streets of Chicago, thinking they were friendly and my new BFFs, they hugged me goodbye and pickpocketed me.  Maybe that is where the hugging thing comes in?!!

5.  I have a phobia of spiders.  They make my skin crawl and sometimes I cry.  I have a pool stick attached to a yard stick attacked to a shoe that I have designed to help me rid my world of them.

6.  I have discovered Zumba and Yoga within the last six weeks and am obsessed.  Shelly, my yoga instructor and Monica, my Zumba instructor rock!

7.  I think my hubby is a sexy cross between Keith Urban and Tom Cruise.  Nicole Kidman is not allowed near him.

8.  I once told my friends in grade school that Michael Jackson was coming to Kansas City at Arrowhead stadium in a bubble.  He was coming from the sky in a bubble.  (WTF?!!)

9.  I want to grow old with my hubby on a beach either in California or Hawaii.

10.  I have a crazy obsession with high heels.  The funny thing is, I rarely wear them.

11.  I wanted to be a lawyer growing up.

12.  Ever since I can remember I have wanted to be on the Price is Right.

13.  Growing up I thought my middle name was spelled Renea.  That was until I actually saw my birth certificate at graduation and realized my middle name was Rene'.  Funny thing after that is I forgot that it was only one "e" on the end and when Haley was born, her middle name is spelled Renee.  Funny, huh?

14.  I tivo American Idol, Gossip Girl, Lost, Girls Next Door and Young and the Restless.   I know, the latter one is something I have watched since probably grade school.  It is a love/hate thing.

15.  Growing up I was a baller and actually thought I would go on to play for KU in the footsteps of my idol Ron Kellog.  I even went to a basketball camp put on by Larry Brown.

16.  I have an odd family tree.  It branches out and then comes back around and branches out and then comes around again.  One of these days maybe I will explain, but for now, that is all I have to say about that.

17.  My favorite movie of all time is The Princess Bride.  I love it.

18.  I have an uncanny ability to stay calm.  I probably can count on a couple of fingers the times I have been stressed.  I make a lot of people mad because of it, but it is what it is.

19.  I used to be a court reporter.  I could type 225 words a minute.  I hated it.

20.  I want to travel to Italy and Greece.

21.  I am completely star struck.  No other way to say it.  And in my lifetime I have actually met many famous people by chance.  One being Garth Brooks.

22.  I used to beleive I was Rose from Titanic in a past life.

23.  I now beleive that Edward Cullen will one day show up and just nibble.

24.  I used to have a belly ring.  It wasn't very cool when I was pregnant with Bella so I removed it.

25.  I really, really want a tattoo, but am just too scared that it will hurt.  I am a wimp.
